If you didn’t know it already, the 5 A Day campaign is an initiative based on the recommendation by the World Health Organization (WHO). It aims to encourage people to eat a minimum of 400g of fruits and vegetables a day, spread over five instances within 24 hours.

Compared to people who were served two times vegetables and fruits, the people consuming five servings of the same a day enjoyed a 13 per cent lower risk of deaths from all the different health-related causes.


The latter also enjoyed a 12 per cent lower risk of heart diseases including heart failures and strokes, as well as a 10 per cent lower risk of cancers. The risks of suffering from different respiratory diseases also decreased by a mammoth 35 per cent among the people with a 5 A Day eating habit.
