Top Movies of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer or MGM Studios

MGM Studios (or Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer as they call it) is an American film studio recently purchased by Amazon.com. It has caused quite a stir in the entertainment industry. Rightly so as the studio has a plethora of blockbuster movies and TV programs up in its sleeves. The deal is supposed to cost around $8.45bn, making it the second-largest in Amazon.com’s history. With it in their bags, the e-commerce behemoth would get access to a great number of classic Hollywood films. While it’s anyone’s guess what the new owners are planning to do with their incredible intellectual property rights, some movies are destined for a remake.

So, today, let’s find out the top movies produced or distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (or MGM) studios that we would love to see remade or re-released back in the theatres.

Bond, James Bond!

You may not know that it is Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer who holds the intellectual property rights to the famous British spy’s movie series. Portrayed by the likes of Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and now Daniel Craig, the film series has raked up billions and billions of dollars over the years. Spectre - the last release of the 007 films alone have racked up more than $7bn to date. Anyways, we would like the titles such as Dr No, Goldfinger, and No Time to Die to be remade first.

Thelma and Louise

A road crime movie that was released first back in 1991, Thelma and Louise was a slight departure from the classic MGM tradition of making star-studded movies. Directed by Ridley Scott, the movie has become a cult favourite over the years and would be great to watch on the big screen with a set of new casts and locations.

Hannibal Lecter

Among the fans of psychiatric thrillers, the Hannibal film series is a must-watch. The series has about three to four films based on whom you are talking to, but we can’t wait to see Amazon.com’s take on Red Dragon (2001) or The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
