Plant-Based Diet: Beyond Meat Partners up with McDonald's and Yum! Brands

Plant-Based Diet: Beyond Meat Partners up with McDonald's and Yum! Brands

Plant-forward or plant-based diet is an eating pattern where the primary focus is on eating foods from plants. It not only includes fruits and vegetables but also extends to nuts, seeds, whole grains, beans, legumes, seeds, oils, etc. Thanks to startups like Beyond Meat (NASDAQ: BYND), it is now also possible to substitute meat with a plant-based diet.

Beyond Meat struck a deal with fast-food giants like McDonald’s and Yum! Brands to bring their plant-based meat substitute to the masses. It’s a revolutionary step toward the future, where both the meat processing carbon and animal cruelty could be eradicated without having to sacrifice our taste for meat-based diets.

What’s the Fuss About Beyond Meat’s Deal?

We all know how big a fast-food chain McDonald’s is. They have restaurants all around the worlds, serving millions of customers a year.

Yum! Brands are no smaller either. If you didn’t know already, they are the parent company that runs brands such as KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. So, if they start offering more plant-based menus, more people would have access to this healthy diet.

The deal is going to last for 3 years with McDonald’s, while the duration for Yum! Brands are yet to be specified. Anyhow, this deal makes Beyond Meat the main supplier for the McPlant - a plant-based burger offered at McDonald’s.

Yum! Brands, on the other hand, was the first to offer plant-based chicken, which then expanded to Pizzas and other menus. With Beyond meat supplying the ingredients, plant-based diets are poised to get mainstream.

Both companies want to expand their options and venture into new areas, with the strategic and technical support from Beyond Meat. With benefits like lower cholesterol, stabilised blood sugar, and reduced inflammation, plant-based diets finally have the base to be accessible to all.
