Everything You Would Want to Know about Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey
Whether it’s his interesting beard, his off-the-grid lifestyle, or his passive-aggressive fight with Donald Trump and the US Congress, Jack Dorsey has become one of the most known faces in the world. He is the co-founder of the hugely popular microblogging site Twitter (NYSE: TWTR), and a part of the breakout Silicon Valley tech billionaires. Later, he also co-founded Square, a financial payment company.
So, if you are one of those who can’t help but to want to learn a bit more about this charismatic, powerful billionaire, you have come to the right place.
Born and Raised a Catholic
Jack Dorsey was born in a Roman Catholic family in St. Louis, Missouri. He went to a catholic school, and later to the University of Missouri. Back then, he wanted to be a fashion designer but never graduated. His uncle is a Catholic priest who practices in Cincinnati.
Becoming a Billionaire
It was Twitter that made Jack Dorsey a billionaire when it went public under the ticker NYSE: TWTR. The value of the microblogging platform soared past $24 billion on its debut, making him a lot of fortune in the process. His current net worth is upward of $12 billion, which is primarily linked to the stakes he owns in the two companies he founded.
He has been serving as the CEO of both the companies he co-founded but takes a negligible basic salary. So, all his net worth pretty much comes from the 2 per cent and 13 per cent stake he has in Twitter and Square respectively.
Marital Status and Philanthropy
Jack Dorsey isn’t married and has no children. He did have an on and off relationship with ex-girlfriend Kate Greer, which ended in 2014. As for philanthropy, he is reducing his stake in Square by donating them to staff, charities, and small business relief programs.
