Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley shows the funny and uncomfortable sides of Silicon Valley and the startup culture. With stars such as TJ Miller and Thomas Middleditch this show is about to enter its fifth season. Even fans who are not familiar with startup culture can enjoy the show as friends and workmates navigate through this competitive culture to come out on top.
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Created by Larry David, the creator of Seinfeld, this show originally premiered in 2000. It follows Larry David, a fictionalized version of himself, and how he handles life's ‘little’ annoyances. For fans of Seinfeld humor this show shows that uncomfortable and annoying situations can be comical. It also takes a satirical look at annoying human behavior.
Girls
Girls is a comedy created by Lena Dunham. This show follows the lives of four young women as they navigate through New York City life. While this show is a comedy it also has some dramatic aspects. These girls have very different personalities that makes it a great show to laugh and add a bit of drama to your life.
The Sopranos
The Sopranos was one of the most highly rated shows of all time. It premiered in 1999 and aired until 2007. The show follows mobster Tony Soprano as he attempts to help navigate his family life along with his criminal enterprise. This show has won 21 Emmy awards and countless other nominations for acting, writing and directing. It's a great show with high critical acclaim.
The Wire
This cop crime drama was written and created by author and former detective David Simon. It explores the world of narcotics in Baltimore through the eyes of cops and law enforcement in the area. This thrilling show lasted six seasons and explores drugs, users, and how they impact the community of Baltimore.
Deadwood
Set in the post-Civil War United States, Deadwood is about a small mining town in the outer territories where people go to get rich. In this town law doesn’t exist unless it is taken in the hands of the people. This show features fictionalized versions of real characters like Wild Bill and Wyatt Earp. The drama was highly acclaimed for its writing, directing and acting.
Boardwalk Empire
Set in prohibition era New Jersey, Boardwalk Empire is about the crime underworld at that time. It stars Steve Buscemi as Enoch "Nucky" Thompson, a politician and gangster who deals with all of the top gangsters like Al Capone and Lucky Luciano. This show went on for five seasons and officially ended in 2014. Its finale shocked fans and got critical acclaim.
Veep
Another great HBO original show from a Seinfeld alum. Julia Louis Dreyfuss stars in this political comedy about an up and coming political star who makes her way to Vice President and is known as ‘Veep’. She works to balance her private life as well as her political career and does everything she can with her limited political powers to put out fires and improve her relationship with the president.
